About me

Sample Heading

Where am I from is complicated question – my father was Spanish (hence my name) and my mother English. I was born in Sarawak, Borneo and lived my childhood and adolescence in various countries – East Malaysia, Switzerland, Uganda, Morocco, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Denmark regularly visited Colombia for home leave. My father was a malariologist and worked for the World Health Organisation, hence the travelling, before retiring to Spain. Other languages include Spanish, French, Italian and some Arabic. With this background I consider myself a citizen of the world – but not a citizen of nowhere. Common humanity is for me of far greater importance than borders and nationalities.

I studied in Britain from the age of 12 years and qualified in Medicine at Cambridge University. For five years I worked as a hospital doctor in London and then moved to become a London GP from 1984, working in a multicultural setting. I am now retiring as a GP after 35 years. I found it to be rewarding, challenging and never dull.
